Special Delivery

by Ben Paddon

He had walked across barren deserts, across endless plains of flat, lifeless land. He had trekked through harsh tundra, pushing his way through and endless barrage of snow.

He had scaled mountains. He had crossed oceans, often without the aid of a boat. He had forced his way through dense, unforgiving jungle. He had once been forced to fight and kill a bear. But he didn’t stop. He couldn’t. He had a task to fulfill, a package to deliver. He would not stop.

Finally he reached the outskirts of the city. He journeyed deep into the heart of the city to a house – a plain white wooden construction. It was fairly newly built, with two cars parked in the driveway. He walked up to the door, rang the doorbell, and when the door opened he placed the package in the occupant’s arms, nodded, and walked away.

He journeyed home. The same challenges. The same brutal passage. And when he got home, there was a short, simple message waiting for him. He’d been expecting it.

“great ebayer, would buy again. A+++++++++“

But was it timely? I mean it’s hard to beat the express mail service. He must have been worried about the contents being liquid, perishable, or potentially hazardous.

Very silly story. It would make a good commercial.
