Small

Erik stared up at the sky and sighed deeply as a tear rolled down his cheek. Whenever he wanted to feel smaller, more insignificant, he would look up and think of the bigger picture. There were places he could never reach, places he could never go, and sometimes Erik liked to feel that way.

It was deep into dusk now, almost night and a beautiful June evening. Not far away, people who left the sky in the background were enjoying their lives. An older couple were walking arm in arm, supporting each other as they had done for more years than Erik had been able to walk. A brunette was power-walking, oblivious to the beauty of the night, just doing her duty to her own personal fitness.

That was the type of girl Erik despised; people so full of themselves that they were absent in this world and only a part of their own. He tried to think about pet-peeves like this to distract himself. Being Erik right now was just too hard to think about, although that was why he was in the spot where he met Melody.
