Machine

by Geek Mythology

The orders had come through. Stop the war machine at all costs. Machine?

It was easy for them to call it a machine. Their radar didn’t show the faces he was now staring into.

Faces of those who shouldn’t be here.

Faces of those who were no different from him.

Faces, he knew all too well, were the only thing standing between himself, and going home.

I really liked it as well. There really is this huge gap between modern warfare and what war really means. This reminded me so much of Introversion’s Defcon game. I always think about all those people that a single blip represents.

Very good look at the dehumanization of war. Virtual technology is trying to downplay the emotional side of killing.
