Bennett's Gift

Bennett was so excited when he locked eyes with the puppy at the same time the puppy seemed to stare only at him.
Sure the other dogs were cute, as puppies are want to be.

But this dog, a light blonde golden retriever, with hopeful eyes, made Bennett take notice. Almost like seeing a beautiful woman across a crowded room at the same time her eyes meet yours.

Not that, that had ever happened to Bennett. He pined for one of his housemates. This dog, this special dog would be a gift to him. Garreth loved dogs and his had recently died.

The idea to get Garreth a new dog came from their other housemate and his female friend, Rose. She was sort of the den mother to the group, came up with all the really good ideas, listened to Bennett for hours when he was depressed, really kept him sane. So the idea of a dog was appealing.

How excited everyone would be when the dog bounded into their home. He wondered what Garreth would change the dogs name to.

    Nice continuation, keeping the present tense and feel from the original. Was that a twist in there that Bennet wants Garreth romantically? A bold choice and certainly a new direction to take the story if I understood that correctly.

    umm… THX … i’m pretty sure that bennett and Garret are both guys.. not that i have anything against gay people, I’m just fairly sure that that’s not what’s going on. at least how i read it.
    but other than that, i agree with THX – flowed very nicely from the prequel.

    The jury is still out on if I agree with THX or One Time, becasue, Kermitgorf, you have a record for mixing it up when it comes to romantic genders. maybe if you cleared the air on that point it would make the story more understandable. Give some more about the alterior motives for getting the dog or lack thereof (besides the fact that his dog had died)—if you have space left or can cut a sentence to fit it in. It’s up to you entirely.

    wow i found this one.. man this was written ages ago! I forgot how cute this story was.. we shold pick up on this story and breathe some new life into it.
