The podium rocked a little under my hands. Nervous? Absolutely not. Anticipating? Of course.
“Senator Clinton, how do you feel about Obama winning in recent polls?”
“I feel that he is a worthy competitor, and that I will be glad about the outcome either way.” If he wins, I swear, I’ll have to set Bill on him or something…
“Hillary, what do you think about taking on the role as President?”
“Well, not too many people have had to campaign with the prospect of inheriting two wars, failing economy, a health care crisis – not since Truman, anyway.” Some historian told me that, I think. Sounds smart, at least.
“Do you think you can affect women’s rights?”
Good thing I forgot the Visine. “I aim to change all this mess that underlies our…” A sob. Perfect. “Oh, I’m sorry.”
“Do you feel as though you are using underhanded ways to gain office?”
Loud orange hat, remember that guy. “Underhanded?”
“You’re crying, Senator Clinton.”
“Oh – oh, yes I am.”
