I wander round my house once more, as if something new and interesting will have appeared in the 15 minutes since I last treaded this path, it hasn’t. It’s now been a little over 6 weeks since I last left my house, since most of us left our houses.

It all started when the press jumped on a theory that to get rid of the common cold everyone just needed to stay indoors for 2 weeks. A nationwide quarantine, wherever you went you could hear people talking about it. Most people seemed to think it was a great idea and wondered why something wasn’t being done about it.

I remember the public information broadcast, quoting the amount of working hours that are lost each year due to the common cold, amounting to billions of pounds. Urging everyone to go and stock up on food for the two weeks quarantine.

Now whenever I turn on the news the message is the same, that it’s not yet safe to leave your house, I’ve seen troops outside, I don’t know why they’re there. John left last week, he hasn’t come back.

I’m hungry.
