“What had happened was…well…

“You know the black hole? The one in all dryers? Where the socks go? I went searching a little too far in for my sock…and tumbled through to the ninth dimension. Everything is upside down there.

“I met my upside down doppleganger. Interesting, that was. He tumbled through his dryer, and wound up in my dimension.

“He would’ve come to work. He has the same job…just upside down.

“Trouble is, he couldn’t figure out how to ride a right-side-up bike.

“So, you see, it was not me who didn’t come to work yesterday, but my doppelganger. I actually did go, walking on cielings… But since it was in the ninth dimension, you wouldn’t know.”

“And just how did you get back?”

“Oh, well…um.”

    Definitely an imaginative excuse. I suppose it might work if your job was as a theoretical physicist. They come up with all sorts of screwy things, and it all flies, as long as you somehow tie it to string theory. Funny stuff, and I like how the person is caught up a little at the end.
