People make horses bite

by Scarlett

Haley shuddered at the day. The memory of the obstacle course on horseback. Nervous on the back of her ever so shaky horse, Haley stared at all her classmates watching her. They had all waited until the camping trip. All year. Haley screamed as the horse shuddered. it shook itself like a wet dog. Haley screamed and panicked as she fell to the ground with a thud, freaked out. All the children laughed. Haley’s eyes remained widely ajar. “To this day I am NEVER riding another horse. Thats why they scare me” Haley explained to her Cabin leader as she stared at the stalls. Her leader replied in a puzzled tone, “Those kids were mean to laugh at you”. Thats when Haley realized it. She was the worst outcast at her school. Maybe it wasn’t the horses she was afraid of. Maybe it was the people she was frightened of. Maybe her subconscious just tried to hide it from her. “Actually, I want to ride him” Haley said. Then she hopped on.

I like the metaphor you used, using the horse as a symbol for her own problems.
