The Wedding Misunderstanding

by Nadia Banik

Today was it.
Today was the day that I was getting married to my beloved fiance and best childhood friend.
We had been in love since year 7.
Ever since, we have admired each other for our common interests and beauty.
I was getting to my limo that my family had rented just for the special occasion when I got a call on my phone.
“I’ll be late,” He said.
“Oh, well okay I’ll see you there then.” I replied to my to be husband.
When I got to the church we were to be betrothed in, everyone was already inside.
As I stepped in dragging my long dress behind me, everyone gave me a big smile and waved congratulations to me.
I waited for nearly an hour for him to arrive, but he never did.
I soon got a message from him.
It said Sorry lady, the wedding’s off.
I threw down my phone and ran out of the church, crying.
I sat down just outside the church, thinking of why this happened.
Soon after, I got another message. This was also from him again.
Sorry, that was my little cousin playing tricks on my phone

Funny little story. Based in fact? Wedding days do seem particularly set up for disaster, what with the high expectations and all.
