The Conversation

Jake talked to the pretty new girl at school. The conversation went something like this;
He saying, hi I’m Jake, her saying, hi I’m Terry, then him saying, I’m in your Biology class, followed by an eerie silence, then him saying something about liking her earrings and her responding, ah thanks my grandmother bought them for me, then Jake getting nervous, as he wanted to ask her to the prom, but he was afraid she would say no, or worse laugh at him, but he managed to get the words out and to his amazment she not only didn’t laugh but said yes.

He said awesome, which he always did, she smiled, thinking, what have I just agreed to? He was thinking, awesome, as he always did when he was amazed.

If Terry had said no and laughed as he was certain she would, he would have walked the lonely walk of the rejected, down the long hallway to his next class, which just happened to be Biology, which he shared with Terry, who has just said yes she would go to the prom with him and he didn’t feel like a loser, for once.

I really really like the train of thought feel to this. ~Which is how my mind runs from the time I wake in the morning until my off switch flips at night. ;)

I agree with Jenunique, I love the loose feel to the train of thought here; this is very very sweet. It makes me smile! It’s a touching way to portray a conversation. I adore it.

I agree too. Is that what boys say when they like you? “I like your earrings.” ? Cause I know one thats said it to me about 1000 times.

I like the thought format too. I also love the comparison between walking the hallway rejected and alone versus elated and not like a loser!

Wow, so many comments. I am so jealous. But it was a really cute story in a very effective ‘anxious teenage guy stream of consciousness style’. My palms got sweaty just reading it! Ah, the memories.
