Not My Fault

“I forgot to lock the cell door, none of what happened was my fault,” the jailor wept on the stand.

The prosecutor continued, “You ‘forgot’ to lock the cell door, allowing a criminal mastermind to escape, how do we know your not an accomplice, on his pay role?”

The jailor wiped his eyes with a handkerchief, “I swear I didn’t do it on purpose. I feel guilty enough after what he done, I’m just a simple man doing my job, I didn’t kill all those people.”

“Next witness”, the prosecutor called.

A stoop shouldered woman shuffled to the stand, took the oath and sat.

“You are the mother of Kyle Mark Jowl,?”, the prosector asked.

“Yes I am,” said Mrs. Jowl, weakly.

“Your son, a criminal mastermind, escaped prison, hid out in your home, were you fed him and housed his associates, is that Not true, the prosecutor bellowed.

“Objection,” yelled the defense attorney.

“Over ruled, you may answer,” the judge said.
“He’s my son, I didn’t know what he was up to, I’m innocent of those deaths,” she cried.

Intense scene and very quick. Did you mean to say ‘Overruled’ for the objection? She wouldn’t have to answer if it was sustained.
