The Toymaker

by Laine the Grey

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a forgotten, old town by the name of “La Petite Ville”. Nothing in particular was special about La Petite Ville; nothing, that is, except for its toymaker.
Norah Wiles had been making toys for as long as anyone could remember. By the time Norah was sixteen, she was regarded as the greatest toymaker in all of the known world. Norah dedicated herself to the porcelain dolls, the jack-in-a-boxes, dollhouses, and other play things in her shop, until one day, when a stranger rode into town.
His name was Wenceslas Roget. Wenceslas had round apple cheeks and dark curls falling across his forehead. His lips were pink and his eyes brilliant green. He could have chosen any woman, but it was to Norah that he gave his heart.
