Ficlets

Julius was just walking home with his friends when it happened. The earth started shaking violently. Being in California everyone including Julius believed it was a minor earthquake. They were all very wrong. Within minutes the beasts started emerging from underground. These beasts which were larger than elephants were plated in metal with only their faces showing. Jaws with jagged and sharp teeth were easily visible to anyone within twenty yards. After emerging they sniffed the air and let the breeze hit their faces. They then attacked. Julius started to run. He heard people’s screams for help but forced himself not to look back but to move on to the destination of the ship. Julius had learned about the ship and the new planet created by the government. He remembered being fascinated by it. Soon he was there but millions of others were there also. He then attempted to find his mother. He heard more screams and this time though he heard laser fire also. He then saw his mother running towards him, crying.
