The next morning Brett, Tod, and Mike (Tyler’s friends) came up to my locker.

“Hey, listen. Tomorrow is Tyler’s birthday and we’re also getting out for winter break so we were gunna take him to Brett’s house out in Colorado with the 3 of us.” Tod said pointing to the other two as he spoke.

“We know how you two are going out, so we thought we’d ask you first. You know, in case you were doing anything.” His friends were really nice.

I smiled and said, “Sure, yeah, of course. He hasn’t really done anything with you guys lately and I think he needs some boy time. Have fun!”

They looked pleased as they walked away. I could see them down the hall beginning to explain things to Tyler. He shot a glance over to me. I smiled and waved in a go ahead, have fun kind of way. He smiled back and turned back and continued talking. He does need it. He seems real stressed lately over the whole blind thing. This should be good for him.

That’s the same thing I told my dad when he asked.
