Happy Thoughts: Wave 3

“Harris, get in here!”

“Sir?”

“My contact at the NRA just informed me that the suicide rate among gun owners has nearly tripled since the RFUI went through! Have you heard about this?”

“No… I mean, not phrased as such. There’s going to be a backlash…”

“I know. We’ve got to do something right away.”

“Pull the plug. Overturn the legislation.”

“That’s impossible. We’ve got tens of millions of people dependent on the positivity chip, we can’t take them off it now. To suddenly reunite them with their dark sides would be chaos!”

“Pfizer’s been looking for an inroads for treating the side effects of positivity control… this could be a pretty sweet deal for us.”

“No, I’m not ready to go there yet. I’d be the laughingstock of Washington to change my position now.”

“So what do you propose?”

“Start them younger. Chips for every public school student, and postnatal implants with immunizations.”

“Are you serious?”

“It’s all or nothing at this point, Harris. Desperate times call for desperate measures.”

I like this series. As much as I am so completely against being controlled in even the most miniscule way, I really really like this series.

I agree- it’s rather scary to me, but good- i’m thinking a lot about it now. :)

Once again, top notch dialogue. Great way of illustrating the slippery slope toward a government that rules through tyranny.
