Is the person inside.
Who they truly are
And forever will be.
How they think
How they work
How they love
How they hate.
How they are themselves.

The person behind the door
Is shut out
Or even
Just stuck inside.
Either way they aren’t with you
Because you’re on the other side.

The person behind the words
Is a person in thought
A person who doesn’t know
Or a person who knows it all.
But behind it all,
We are all people.
Behind it all,
We all have a life,
A history,
A story.

Behind it all,
You’ll find the world.

    You wrote:

    The syntax here needs work. Better to fix the second line to something like “Because you stand outside their door or are locked behind your own.” Something like that.
    Anyway, the imagery here is quite lovely otherwise. Well written.
