Funny Things at Parties (Elsa's Funny How Challenge)

It’s funny how you can go through life thinking something is normal, that it’s the same for everyone. Then, when you least expect it (as silly a phrase as that is), you let something slip or do something, and everyone gives you that look.

It’s like my thumbs. They bend backward at the last joint pretty far. No big deal, right? How was I to know everyone’s joints don’t painlessly hyperextend? I couldn’t. I don’t go around testing people’s thumbs, nor should I. But then I’m sitting a party, you know, twiddling my thumbs, and people get all grossed out cause they go back past 100 degrees. It’s not like they detach.

Or it’s like another time at a party (I really need to just stop going to parties) that we were just talking. You know, talking talking. The topic was loose and constantly changing. I don’t know why I said it. It was just something to say. I’d never thought saying something like that was a big deal. Then again, I didn’t grow up in Mississippi.

All I said was, “Yeah, he is cute.”
