A Total Wasteland (Acorn's Story Challenge)

It was a waste of time.. and tears. He wasn’t come back. None of them were ever coming back. I slumped to my knees in the middle of the road.

My best friends and boyfriend had just left me. They had taken off together to go back to a more happier time.. A time when we didn’t have to worry about wether the air outside was breathable or if a major city would still be there the next morning.

I, myself, hadn’t gone. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to, it was that I couldn’t. The GETEM had banned my magic. They had caught me and my friends returning from a trip to 3973. The future had been forbiden to travel to, but we were rebels of our time. I was more careless though.. and this was the price I paid. I was one of twelve others to go. I was also one of three to get caught.

I slowly rose from the ground. Walking home, I listened to the deafening sounds of giant machines desperatly trying to save us.

At home, I laid on my bed and waited for the end. The world granted my wishes soon enough.

    Bizarre with lots of subtle sci-fi and fantasy stuff dropped into what is essentially a story about paying the price for actions and being abandoned by your friends.
