“Yours as in you painted it?” Derrick pressed on.
Macy blushed, “Yeah. I painted it.”
Derrick just stared on. The detail of the flowers was amazing and he couldn’t take his eyes off of it. Then he realized, it was the flowers in the meadow. “These are in your meadow.”
“Yep. I got inspired.”
“Wow. Talk about inspiration. I mean, this is so good.”
“Thanks. Oh no, here comes Macon again.”
“I’ll deal with him.”
“You don’t have to…”
“I know.” Derrick turned to persue Macon standing before. He started his insult before Macon could speak. “Are you jealous or something? That she is actually happy without Shane or you? Or do you just not know when enough is enough? Can’t you see that you’re only making yourself look bad and that you can’t win. You might as well give up hurting her because you’ll have to deal with me first. Ya got me? Good.” Derrick went back to the painting as Macon drifted away, defeated.
“How’d ya do that?”
Derrick smiled at Macy and replied, “I really don’t know.”
