The Secret of the Deep

by thebetweenspace

The view from my beach house was simply breathtaking, the ocean crystal clear, the tide gently ebbing and flowing. It was almost as if I could hear the ocean whispering, Come closer, I have a secret.

The breeze sifted through my hair as I approached the water, wet sand squishing between my toes. I took note of everything. I smiled at the delight of children giggling as they constructed elaborate sand castles. I was captured by two lovers intoxicated with each other.

A sense of foreboding sent chills through my spine. Something wasn’t right. I looked in the distance and I couldn’t believe my eyes.

An enormous wave slowly rolled toward the beach ready to swallow everything in its path. I screamed a warning, but they were oblivious. They saw nothing, but their own carefree lives.

I saw something else entirely.

I witnessed a battle between cosmic warriors, swords and axes clanging against each other, the fate of the world in their hands. I drowned in despair, realizing I now knew the secret of the deep.

    Wow! That was awesome!
One suggestion, if you don’t mind. The line “swords and axes clinging against each other”. I think you mean “clanging”. :) Otherwise, a fabulous little story!
