“I’m not worth the trouble, Bernard,” I say to him. He responds, “Darling, you’re worth more to me than anything and I promise you this now Faith, I will not let anyone hurt you as long as I’m with you baby.” The look he then gave me was as sweet as it had ever been, but, tragically, I knew that pain was going to strike again. “Bernard,” I said meekly, “I understand you want to help, but there is nothing you can do.” “Faith,” he said in reply, “I love you and I will make sure that this perverted jerk will not lay another finger on you, or so help me I will break every bone left in his frail body.” He held out his hand and I grabbed it tenderly. “You just don’t understand,” I said, ” Bernard, I love you, believe me I do, but I really wish you didn’t do this.” His response was not with words but with a gentle kiss; He sealed his promise to me. “Faith,” he then said, “Tell me you love one last time.” “Bernard,” I said, “I love you so much.” “As long as youre with me baby,” he told me, “Do not be afraid anymore.”
