Derrick hissed, “Yeah Macy, because this isn’t his hand?” He jabbed a finger at her bruised wrist and she covered it up. “And that isn’t his fist?” He pointed to a bigger one on her tan leg.
“Derrick shut up.” Macy whispered, looking away.
“And this isn’t from that time I saw you two in the hall.” Macy grabbed his hand.
“Derrick shut up!” She repeated in a scream now. “I can’t believe you’re lying to me!” She broke down into sobs and Derrick placed his arm around her.
“Macy” He whimpered, “Do you honestly not see what he’s doing to you? Or are you trying to cover it up with the fact that he supposedly loves you?”
“He loves me.”
“I can’t believe that you’ll lie to yourself to stay with him no matter what he does to you.” Derrick purred, trying to comfort her now, tone down the screams.
“That’s not true.”She lied and it sounded fake even to her own ears.
Yet maybe it’d be real if Derrick and Macy lived in a different world where they were together and Shane didn’t even exist.
