Celia is staying at her grandmothers house for a week. The hot summer sun keeps her inside. She would burn easily if she stayed outside too long.

After watching a few hours of tv, Celia’s grandmother leaves for the kitchen.While her grandmother is in the kitchen cooking dinner, Celia stays in the living room.

Celia still seated at the couch turns around and looks into the mirror behind the couch. It is a large mirror that hangs on the wall. She looks into the mirror and gazes at its reflection. She stares at it for a few minutes. She allows the reflection to play tricks with her eyes and her mind.

While doing this, she allows her mind to wander. She imagines that she sees another room through the mirror. It looks much like the room she is in. She pretends that it is a secret room. And she is guarding it. Suddenly, she notices a shadow appear in the corner. She feels her grandmother put her hand on her shoulder. “Hon dinner is ready”

    She allows the reflection to play tricks with her eyes and her mind.< reminds me of the fun house mirros.. the tricks the mirrors play.. were not seeing reality there.
    i like the comfort and ease of the setting. reflective.. pun intended.

    You could go so many places with this line!
    It reminds me of MY grandma’s, sitting inside, being imaginative to have something to do…
    A comfortable entry!

    I really like this, and I’m not sure why. I think it’s because not a lot happens, but there’s still a huge amount going on behind the scenes. Definitely worth exploring a bit further, I think.

    This reminds me of a book I read called Coraline. I enjoyed the Ficlet.
