Josh knew she would go in two days.. Soon she would be an automaton the same as the others.

It had been several years since their first meeting and her parents had stopped being as vigilant in watching her as they originally had but Josh was still surprised to see her by the bush the day after he left his note.

Her hair was still red, but was starting to darken to a more auburn color. Her eyes were still the vibrant green that had caught him that first meeting. What surprised him was the backpack she had which seemed filled with more than books.
