The Trip to Live Life to it's Fullest

by Louise Madison

I walked to the end of my street.

I sat down on the bus stop and set my bag down next to me. A man sat down next to me. I ignored him, he ignored me. He had spikey black hair and was wearing sunglasses. His headphones were playing some rock song.

The bus screeched to a halt at my feet. I took a deep breath. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the carefully folded 2 dollar fair and paid the bus driver. I took a window seat in the middle of the bus and put my bag on the next seat so no one would sit near me. I rode until we got to the Greyhound Bus Station. I stood in awe that I had gotten this far without going home. I walked towards the doors. I slowed. I saw a father and daughter traveling together, just like my father and I had. I let a single tear slide down my porcelian skin. I didn’t let that stop me though. I inhaled deeply and step through the doorway. This is the beginning of the adventure of my life. Goodbye, school. Goodbye, family. Goodbye, friends. I’m off to live my life.

Nice, quiet, internal view of the last few steps onto the adventure. Nicely paced as well, with little bits of information and detail.

It is a quiet internal monologue. Kind of sad, still very calm, just where is this person going?
