“Why does she have to get sick NOW ? With Mom and Dad on vacation, I’m her only relative!” Sharon grumbled, shoving her hands deeper into her pockets and glancing over at Donny. Her old, crabby aunt Anne was sick, and she was responsible for her- ugh! “I’m gonna have to find a nursing home, get her in, pay them, pack up her stuff-”
Donny grunted.
“Maybe-” Sharon looked over at Donny-”Maybe I should just bring her to my house! Yeah! I can look after her there- I’m home enough! What do you think, Don?”
Donny stopped walking and turned to face Sharon.
“I think,” he said clearly, “That when life gives you lemons, Sharon, for God’s sake don’t squeeze the juice into your eye!”

    Great moral to the story and twist on the saying. Nicely done in a neat, compact little ficlet with just enough detail and setting to get your point across.

    I like the ending. For some reason Donny said that with an Irish Accent.. I have no idea where that came from. Cool story.. I was a lil unclear on the relationship between Donny and Sharon.. But hey the story was great!
