The comet collapsed.
There was a crunch.
There was a squeak of a gerbil running by.
There was a crunch.

The comet erupted one last time before crumbling into sand, blending in with the beach. The gerbil got hit and squirmed for a second, shaking it off and sprouting wings. A spear pretty much appeared out of nowhere into his now enlarged paw. The gerbil floated over to the four and smiled gerbil-like.

“Um.. Hi? OH! I can speak human now!” the gerbil squealed.

“And your name is…?” Nichole inquired.

“Timmy. TIMMY !” he replied.

“Looks like we have a mascot,” Ethan told the rest.

    Smiled gerbil-like made me laugh. I liked the opening lines.. setting up the action and then a gerbil appears.. a talking gerbil at that. what’s not to like I ask you?
