Fake-Crayon Words

by someday_93

Everyone’s seen those posters: “Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.” You know, Share Your Toys, Say Nice Things, No Hitting, Listen to the Teacher, No Tattling. They say, in their fake crayoned-on words, that these rules apply to us even today.

I wonder what the lives of people who spend their time making inspirational posters are like. Do they have to think about the same things everyone else does, day after day? Or are their lives full of clichés, just like the propaganda they crank out to make the rest of us feel insufficient?

I don’t think they realized, when they wrote those posters, that yeah, those rules still apply to us all. But it’s not all so black-and-white, so easy to understand as it was in kindergarten.

I don’t miss kindergarten. Yeah, I said it. Nap time was hell, I tell ya’. But I like the point of the ficlet, that life really isn’t that simple. Somewhere around high school life gets full of all these shades of gray we have to choose from.

    sigh.
They must have a lot of trouble trying to be inspirational all the time.
Or maybe only bubbly, super-optimistic people are allowed to work on them. You know the ones. They are like a too-bright, neon light in your face first thing in the morning.
Anyway, life isn’t always like a brand-new box of crayons.

ah, thats so true. i cant say if i miss kindergarden or not. the only hting i remember was the eally nice teacher named beth and big yellow chicken that was like, our mascot.
but things are definatly way more complicated. partly beacuse everyone, including yourself, expects more from u.

Kindergarten really is just the sorting hat for the rest of our lives, isn’t it? We’re all in one room for a few months, and after that we become rebels and nerds, jocks and princesses, slytherins and gryffindors…
