A Dad's Perspective

by SKermitgorf

A nice quiet Sunday. The kids off with their Mom shopping at the mall.
Lucky guy I am to sit in my favorite recliner, beer in hand and watch the games. Uninterrupted by fighting teens and tweens.

The wife will call a few times to ask if we need this or that.
I can fall asleep. No worries. Coached soccer and mowed the lawn yesterday, so I can just relax and hope they stay out bargain hunting all day.

Ah yes, being King of the castle has it’s advantages.
Oh no, the end to sweet solace, I hear the SUV pulling into the drive.
I hope they brought dinner home with them.

I didn’t do a thing on my ‘Honey Do’ list.

Quick look busy. Where did the kids put my hammer?

I’m not a dad, so I hope I captured the essence of dad-dom. fatherhood.( by watching my older brothers).

King of the Castle indeed. This was sweet. I might just post a sequel from the kids’ perspective to keep it going. :p

Not yet a dad, but that’s exactly how I envision it. Great sequel. And, I already have the ‘Honey Do’ list which I routinely avoid at all costs. Where’s the hammer? Brilliance.

Reading it, I was actually thinking, “Oh, I didn’t know Kermit was a dad. Go figure, I guess it really is hard to tell things about our fellow ficleteers. I didn’t even know he was married. Then again, he doesn’t have to be married to be a dad. I’m sure glad my parents were married. I should call my mom, or at least email.”
It went on from there, only less and less relevant. Nice job!

Ha!!! Is that the way it goes ? I always thought it was like that but never could quite prove it! LOL It’s something about the sleeping gas in those recliner handles!!! Great job.

I know sometimes when I get home that the hubby has not been productive. And I’m pleased about the sequels that have been sparked!

hehe …. I check the recliner when I get home and if it is still warm, hubby has to take me out. At least this way we both win, he gets a quiet day at home and I do not have to cook dinner : )
