I walked inside my room dreading having to face Tom. Surprisingly, considering how late it was, Tom was lying on his bed talking on the phone. How odd. I wondered if something was wrong? Death in the family? I braced myself for the worst.
“No, I love you more.” Tom rolled his eyes, motioned for me to sit down. “You’re so adorable. That’s why,” he let out in a girly voice.
Had he been love bitten? I couldn’t bear the thought.
“Okay, sleep well. Know that you’re safe and I’ll be guarding you even in your dreams. Good night.”
He ended the call.
I waited, not knowing what to say. Part of me wanted to ask him if the plan was still in effect, or if he’d actually fallen for Jodi. The rest of me wanted to plead for forgiveness after blindly following stupid Mendez.
“So, Jordan.” Tom said. “What the hell was that all about?”
“Mendezfoundout! ButIdidn’tknowhefoundout! AndIthoughtweweregoingtospy! Notgetintoafight!“
“Slow down, buddy. I already assumed that. I meant why did you make me knock you out?”
