That one simple smile, from a man she didn’t even know, set her energy to a new level. She flew through her work, finishing a good hour or more early. After lunch, she bought the woman in the cubicle next to her a cookie – the woman’s favorite, she had noticed.
“Thank you, Theresa!” the woman exclaimed to her. The woman was very grateful for this act of kindness. She devored the cookie quickly, for she couldn’t afford for more than a petite lunch and a bottle of water.
“Of course. Have a good day, Heather.” she responded and proceeded into the bathroom.
Meanwhile, the affection that was transferred through the cookie spread throughout the body of Heather. The presentation she had later that afternoon was no longer a worry, and she flew through it, earning her a much needed promotion.
As Heather pranced home, she found a stray kitten. It was gray with white paws, skinny, and no collar. She picked it up ever so carefully, and brought it home to her daughter, who had been longing for a companion.
