Completely terrified wouldn’t do my fit of panic justice. I had, after all, been staring at my completely bare chest like a modern-day Adonis.

“What are you doing here?!” I shouted. “The door was closed! Can’t you take a hint!”

“Whoa, there Narcissus,” Jodi said. “I was just coming in to say hi.”

Then she did that thing she always does. The completely unexpected thing that sends chills through my spine. She wrapped her arms around me and kissed me. On the mouth.

I kissed back, terrified and yet strangely aroused. Then just as suddenly as it happened, without a word she turned around and walked away leaving me alone, half naked, in the bathroom. I was completely flabbergasted.

Mendez barged in and saw my puzzled face. “Nancy-boy, I just saw Jodi leave looking awfully smug.” He balked, looking at my lips. “Wait a sec, why do you have lipstick on?”

He put two and two together. And for the second time in my life, I was down for the count. When I came to, I realized he was still in love with her.

    Quite a tangled web, and I love that your protagonist stays true to form, too befuddled to cover the tracks and avoid a beat-down.

    A continuity point: Jordan was admiring himself in the bathroom mirror, which changes the dynamic of people just walking in somewhat. ;-) Not sure if you want to address that, but I’ll take my turn next.
