Up Here

by Black Ink

The breeze whispers your name in my ear
A memory of the days I held dear
It’s amazing how we loved with no fear
And the warnings and lessons we didnt hear
But now those 10 letters seem so insincere
And the singing birds have lost their cheer
All the love songs on the radio seem to shout and jeer
And want to remind me that love doesn’t live here
But summer is coming and the feelings are so unclear
The lines between love and lust disappear
I need someone to love and you are nowhere near
Don’t get mad that I didnt get your all clear
Cause I’ve decided to not shed a tear
To slow it down, put it in low gear
To your words I’ll finally adhere
I’ll just keep working as a lowly cashier
And look down at you and tell you what its like from up here

I’m impressed you found that many words that rhyme with ear. Good ending, I enjoyed the final few lines and what they revealed the most.

Lovely stuff with lots to it. I thought the repeated rhyme got a bit stale by the end, but that’s just me being a non-poetry-lovin dork.
