The Realm of Impossibility

by YodaOnCrack

“But Abah, thoughts cannot change what is real. It’s simply not possible. These are mere illusions.”

“The realm of the possible is where fear lingers, Murni. Do not be fooled. Reality hides there like a veil of doubt, and that place… The realm of the impossible is where truth flows like the great river – a place beyond birth and death, fire and wind.”

He traces a circle in the air with his index finger and a bright ball of fire forms before her. “Let me show you your fears, Murni. Conquer your fears and you will understand where reality and impossibility converge.”

Murni feels the heat from the fire on her face and hands. She lets go of the kite, takes a step backward, and watches it disappear.

He raises his cloaked arm and passes his left hand through the flame. “Walk into the fire, Murni. Enter the realm of impossibility!”

“No, Abah! I’m too afraid! I cannot do it. No!”

“Harness your fears, Murni,” he said. “Meditate on the flame and open your hands of thought. Take the journey into your senses.”

Very deep stuff, and a very intense spontaneous (?) moment between father and daughter.

My first ficlet written on my new baby – a brand new Macbook. I’m lovin’ OS X and the switch from Windows… I guess my MAC is just more ficlet friendly!

Oh, yes, Yoda – I write nearly all my ficlets on the Mac instead of my Vista computer. I mean, not incredibly different, but it’s faster and more accessible.

Oh, yeah! The story! (Wink) I like the dialogue, the old-fashioned (correct) way of speaking. It enhances the overall fantasy feel of the story – which is fairly original-feeling, too.
