Dawn of Confusion

by Apostrophe

I wake up freezing cold. When I come to, I realized I’m on a boat. My eyes meet the sky, it’s a pale pink with hues of red. This told me that it must be sunrise. I shift my weight, preparing to stand. Once I begin this, it becomes difficult. I feel weak and my head begins to hurt. Confusion washes over me, as I try to figgure out what I am doing on a boat. I look to the other end of the boat.. to see if I am with someone. Maybe they might know why I am here.

When nobody appears to be on the deck with me, I make my way to the bottom of the boat. And look to see if anyone is there. It is hard to tell because it is dark. After searching for a switch, I find one. WIthin seconds the room is awash with bright flurescent light. To my dismay, there is nobody down here either.

Panic floods my heart. It becomes clear, that I am on this boat alone. I have no recolection of getting on. And for some strange reason, my head wont stop hurting. I lie down on the cot.. trying to remember what happened. But I am lost.

I agree, the atmosphere here is wonderfully presented. It’s interesting how you took such a seemingly peaceful picture and crafted a tense, ominous story out of it.
