“So do you have a name, or do I get to call you God from now on?” quipped Dreanna.

“A name…” He replied almost absentmindedly. He had several names, countless names throughout the eons. So which one to choose?

Before he could fully process the request, an answer “Eric. Eric Bamber.” Interesting choice, he mused.

But it did fit the situation, didn’t it? Wasn’t that what this body was called when he was corporeal? Before his species evolved from beings not much different from Dreanna.

“Eric? What kind of name is ‘Eric Bamber’ for a god??” Dreanna started to blurt out, just catching herself in the nick of time. “Nice to meet you Eric” she replied instead.

“So what happened here?”

“Dunno” Eric replied cheerfully.

“What do you mean ‘dunno’ I thought you knew everything!”

“Interestingly enough, so did we.”

While it was the straight answer she’d been looking for, that was little consolation… it had definitely turned into an “oh shit” moment.

    You misspelled corporeal in the fourth paragraph, and straight in the last. Other than that, I’m really liking this story. I’m not sure how to wrap my head around a being that created a universe that it existed in as a corporeal being before creating the universe.
    Maybe the being existed in another universe, turned omnipotent, then created this new universe that we’re in? That would make sense. Parallel universes. Yeah, let’s go with that. Carry on.

    Thanks for the typo catch John… and BINGO ! You are the first person to get it:
    a) its not our universe
    b) his people evolved, build and populate universes for kicks.
    Care to guess who hie people are?? :)

    Are they Thetans sent to Earth by the great and powerful Xenu? Given your propensity for sci-fi, it is highly likely that his people were Earthlings and this story takes place in the distant future.
    Personally, I think we’ll all die off before we are able to reach this stage of enlightenment. I’m much more of a dystopian future kind of guy myself. But I am along for the ride and interested to see where you’re headed.

    “Thetans sent to Earth by the great and powerful Xenu” Ha, good one but you know Tom Cruise is going to send a hitman crew after you now! ;)

    And yes, it is a study of what could happen if humans reach the singularity and super evolve.

    I like the reveal at the end that the ‘gods’ don’t know everything… Kind of chilling experience for Dreanna, I would imagine.

    Yes, especially if the gods were humans before…all very complex, interesting stuff. At least in the way I’d like to look at it. =)
