The Painting(Paint a Picture Challenge)

by SKermitgorf

It was in the middle of the wall surrounded by other paintings, worth far more money, by better known artists, but there was something about the painting that caught everyone’s eye who walked past it in the art gallery.
It seemed every color in the rainbow was used, the brightest of orange, the subtleness of blue, the vividness of red, all coagulating to form the most eye catching image, a banquet feast for the eyes.
If one were to say what the painting was of, there were as many interpretations as there were visitors to the gallery.
For some the blue was an ocean, to another’s eye , the sky. The painting could have been turned upside down, and would have lost none of it’s appeal to those gazing upon its visage.
The famous paintings by the likes of Michelangelo and Degas, Picasso, paled next to the small piece of art in their midst. It was as a Blue rose among a row of ordinary red ones.
All eyes were on it, and people went away glad they witnessed it’s beauty.
The painter was a blind five year old boy.

Stories with an emotional twist always give me the shivers. Well done! Although you didn’t paint a picture, you described it.

Lovely. I loved this story! By reading your words, I could imagine the scene in my head. I pictured people walking by this painting and observing it. Also, I like how you captured peoples varied reactions. You expressed your thoughts effectively on this story. Job well done!

Lovely little story, and I think you succeeded in painting more the scenario and feeling than the visual image itself, no small feat in itself. Nice twist ending. Third paragraph ‘where’ should be ‘were’, methinks.

the ending is excellent. This is a very good story told with thick description. An impasto work of words.

I agree with i live nylsc about “coagulating” (Which, btw, is a cool word, just the way it feels as one says it. :D ) Overall, wonderful story.

I love the idea that blue can be an ocean to some people, and to others the sky. I’m not sure what it is for me. I’ll have to think about it! :)
