Ficlets

All of us were waiting for this moment. Lying on our backs on blankets, in the cool summer grass. The sky was illuminated in several different colors. It was the time of day when you could see the transition from day to night. The sun just set so there was a faint glow on the horizon. But above that, the sky was turning blue, with the first stars making their appearance.

Then out of nowhere, came this bright glowing ember, blazing across the sky. It streamed across the sky, as if it was thrown from the heavens. We watched its decent from the atmosphere. It was such an amazing sight.

All around us nobody said a word. The whole place was silent. We all sat there, as we witnessed this natural phenomenon. Most of us knew that this was a once in a lifetime thing. Comets are known to occur with that kind of infrequency. As long as I am alive, I will always remember the colors in the sky. It was such an unforgettable sight.
