Möbius Strip: Any Port in a Storm

by KevMullins

“Why the port Ancient God?” Ker asked.

“Transportation. Oh, and please call me Eric.”

“What? Why don’t you just…”

”...shift us to our destination? And blind jump into an enemy stronghold! I think Not. Now find us a ship.”

As Ker linked into the Harbormaster’s terminal the room filled with a holographic representation of the port and all its ships. The name of each ship floated above it along with icons representing it’s status.

It wasn’t looking good so far, red across the board. Any ship that had been active during the event was damaged beyond repair.

“What’s this? On Vast Horizon.” Ker said as the ship zoomed into view.

“Ah, new construction, latest technology, deep space exploration craft. Oh, she’s big too. Crew space for 2000+, fully autonomous AI, onboard MiniLink, hyperjump capable, redundant systems, and 5 full nano factories. Worldbuilder class, given the raw materials, she could assemble anything you ask for. Status: offline.”

“She’ll do.” Eric replied as they shifted aboard her.

I’m intrigued as to who these “enemies” are that have Eric so afraid. Also, that is a kickass ship. I want one.

Poor Eric. Can’t even find his own ship on this planet. Must be tough.
Another solid entry. Keep up the good work.

Again, thanks for taking the time to comment guys.
It isn’t evident yet but there is a reason why Eric is handling the situation this way. The next post or so should expose the details.

Looking forward to see why Eric is handling things this way – after I go to the gym.
