Hello

by Jenunique

Heather sat perfectly still with her eyes trained on the doorway from where the movement came. Finally a huge grey rat scuttled along floor. A shiver ran down her spine, but she smiled. “Gross,” she whispered to herself but returned to the beast before her.

Closing her eyes, to avoid any further interruptions, she continued to manipulate the piano into giving her the music she knew it held. She began with the song that fit perfectly with the place and time. Evanescence’s Hello It sounded so beautiful in this empty place the first time through. Noone had been disturbed in their slumber so she began again.

This time, she sang along. During the interlude she began to imagine the violin playing softly in the foreground, so she softened her strokes. She looked down at her fingers, something her piano teacher would have had a meltdown over.

When she quickly snapped her eyes up, he was leaning an elbow on the baby grand watching her. Heather screamed and stood. He stood and placed a finger to his lips.

I liked the way that this ficlet took a different turn than the title suggested and then ended up exactly where it should have begun.

Because I love the music that has inspired the titles in this series so much, I will share a taste of it through the “magic” of youtube. ;D

I was so disappointed when that video started and there wasn’t a single clay bust of Lionel Richie.

Yikes! Great ending that could go some different ways from there. I liked the line about manipulating out the music from the reticent piano.
