Möbius Strip: Epilogue - Strangers in a Strange Land

On Vast Horizon was floating in an unnamed nebula… well at least, unnamed to Ker. His entire body felt like every atom had been pulled through a strainer, several times. Status… quite a maiden voyage.

“All systems nominal. Quite indeed! Not what the builders had in mind, I imagine” Ava replied.

Location?

“Current location unknown, doesn’t match any of our star charts. We’re really lost. What now?”

“Lost doesn’t begin to cover it!”

Dreanna was studying the holographic projection of the nebula in the center of the bridge. “Pretty isn’t it?” she eventually spoke, “He left us one final gift, Seeker.“

A perfect silver sphere rippled into existence as her mind sang across the Link. “I exist to serve… you.”

“Downloading new star charts, world data, languages. Thank you Goddess” Ava replied.

“How do you do that?” Ker asked.

“Don’t know I just can, with time, you can too. But first…” She brushed the hair from his face, then pulled him close into a long, deep kiss.

    OK, stick a fork in this series… it’s done!
    I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing. I want to thank everybody that commented on the series and provided help, especially you John Perkins.
    At some point I might pick it up and write another chapter or…

    ... better yet, why don’t you continue Ker and Dreanna’s story?
    I’ve left you with a badass ship (remember Worldbuilder class, can make anything) and a few interesting characters (hey, at least I think so) and a brand new universe to explore.
    So go ahead… surprise me, wow me.

    You have an interesting setup here for a future adventure. However, the kiss at the end seemed forced to me, as there really isn’t any history between Ker and Dreanna to speak of. Also, you’ll want to put “an” in front of “unnamed nebula” instead of “a”.

    @kaellinn – The kiss… I can see your point. I was kind of looking at it like this:
    a) I’d planned a bit more interaction leading up to and end it… curse you 1024 character limit!
    b) I saw it as a shipwrecked man and woman who gone through a lot together leading to more…
    c) She’s a hot, godlike Cougar now and he’s a tasty looking treat (sorry I couldn’t resist)

    Congratulations on a great series! Honestly, I’m very proud and humbled to have had any (small) part in helping you along the way.
    I think you created some really interesting characters here and a very intriguing universe. Good luck with the manga, I look forward to reading it.
    Also, I don’t think the kiss was forced that much. I kind of got the shipwrecked thing. They’re alone in a strange place, it’s an “I’m really happy to be alive” kind of kiss.

    Fantastic ending to a great series. And you even left the door open for the setup of another series. Well done all around.

    Thanks thebetweenspace… as I look back now, I do feel I rushed the ending a bit. I really should have extended a few post to cover more sections.
