She followed him up the steps into a huge building. Everwhere around her there were loud sounds-music was blasting out of a number of the rooms-some odd smells, and a ton of people. “Hey, Chris,” one guy yelled, pounding Chris on the back(the typical guy greeting).”So you’re back,” he said, looking at Rachel curiously. “Who’s the girl?”
“Well…this is my friend, Rachel,” he said, putting his hand on her shoulder.
“Hey, ” he said, looking at her again, this time approvingly. “Your friend, huh?”
“Yeah.”
“We’ll talk later,” the guy said, wagging his eyebrows.
“Sorry about that. That was John. He lives on my floor. Throws some awesome parties too, which is basically the only reason I hang out with him, ” he said apologetically. “But I’m just warning you, you might get that reaction a few more times. We have a lot of weird, not so cute girls here. So for them, someone like you…well, that’s a change.”
“What do you mean, someone like me?”she asked, puzzled.
“Well…someone…beautiful.”
