Dana Sees the Light

Dana awoke, lapsing back into confusion and shock moments thereafter. The things she had witnessed in her medication haze – the beings emerging, Emily disappearing – burned like waking nightmares.

She heard voices, one of which was her mother. Once they stopped, someone sat on the edge of her bed.

“Dana, honey? It’s Mom. Can you hear me?”

Dana opened her eyes, finally able to see more than a blur. Her mom was smiling, and Emily’s Wonderball was over on the window ledge.

“Mom?”

“Great news, honey! The doctor says your burns are very superficial, and have already made a lot of progress in healing. In fact, he’s amazed at what they’ve done in just a week.”

“A week?”

“It’s Sunday, and you’ve been here since Monday. Emily came to see you on Tuesday, but I haven’t seen her since. She left her Wonderball behind, and I had half a mind to throw it out. I figured she’d have come back for it by now.”

Mrs. Poole stroked Dana’s hair and smiled. Over by the window, the Wonderball started glowing.

Hmm… so does the Wonderball have healing powers as well? Interesting departure here, and I got a chill when I read that Emily has disappeared.
I think I need to double-back and read some of the previous installments. This series seems to have taken off like gangbusters!

Now were gonna see what it’s really going to do – and hopefully what Sol-leks and Sandra are planning…and why they used a little toy to do it.

Hmm.. Stovo.. I don’t know if they were using the toy.. or if maybe they were just stuck inside of it..

Wait, what I don’t get is why they had to go to the hospital to get out of the ball. Why couldn’t they just do it at Emily’s house? And why didn’t Emily’s mom come looking for her at the hospital? Besides that, great series. I love the suspense and I can’t wait to see what happens and how Emily’s getting out of the ball cuz she has to. If not I’ll be REALLY sad

I love how Dana has been asleep or whatever since Tuesday. That means Emily has been in the Wonderball for like 5 days. That sucks =(
