“Smooth move, ex-lax,” sighed Amanda as she dropped the handful of change Becky handed her into a pocket, “now what?” She took her place in the semi- circle next to Jessica.
Alex and Becky had scrambled during the excitement and were standing near the door, at the head of the sprawled Caterpillar. Alex stuck his head out the door, just enough to look, “We have to make a decision, now! They’re coming!”
Jessica was breathing hard. She shouldered the door, slamming it against the wall.
“Go, go, go!” She yelled, pulling Amanda’s arm first, then Becky, and Alex following, not needing the prodding. “Lose the heels,” Jessica growled, “You’re slowing us down!”
Amanda stepped out of her shoes without question. Becky, raised a brow, “And run in my socks? I’m so sure!“
Jessica looked over her shoulder. The man from the mirror store was leading a group toward them, but they weren’t running. Then she saw Krystle; looking like she’d stepped right out of an Olivia Newton John video.
“This is totally warped.”
