Cigarettes Will Kill You

by SKermitgorf

I went to see Dr. Proto and was told by a new receptionist that the doctor was away for a week’s holiday.
I tried to go about my daily routine, taking photo’s for the magazine assignment I was in London for.
It was hard to concentrate, knowing my nighttime activities could return at any time.

That night, 3 Am, I had to go outside for a walk to calm down. The feelings of chills and headaches, dizziness revisited me.

I saw her on the corner. A pretty young girl all dolled up for the evening.
I come within reach of her, “Do you have a light?”, I asked, holding out a cigarette.

“Those’ll kill you, you know, mister,” she said.
That was the last thing the poor girl spoke. I gently placed her on the ground and walked away.

Talk about ironic from the girl’s point of view!
