Lordy, I can’t believe school’s out already! thought Campbell as he walked home from the last torturous day of high school this year.
Couldn’t have come soon enough…, he thought again, seeing a gaggle of the “cool” girls walking by, most of which looked at him in disgust. Only one of them stared at him with some strange expression on her face. Probably just couldn’t figure out how much she hated him.
Ah well, thought Campbell. Won’t have to see them again until September!
He started to walk the familiar path home absentmindedly as he pondered the more difficult questions on his last exam.
Some barking down the street interrupted Campbell’s trance, and suddenly, a very flustered mailman sharply turned on the sidewalk corner and ran past him. The giant bulldog followed closely behind, drool hanging from it’s snarling mouth.
Just as suddenly as the mailman had appeared, the bulldog stopped and quickly bit hard on Campbell’s leg.
He looked down, saw pale white surrounded by red, and fainted.
