Unexpected Meeting

Cora couldn’t stand the slience any longer. She threw on her tennis shoes and bolted from her house. Not thinking about where, she just ran. Hard and fast and long.

By the time she finally ran out of breath she was in the neighborhood park. She collapsed on a near by bench.

“Here.. You look like you could use some water.” A voice said.

Cora jumped up and turned towards the voice. Shane, a guy in her class who she had never took much intrest in before, was sitting on the same bench offering her his water bottle.

“Oh.. uhm.. Thanks.” Cora answered still a little shaky.

“Sorry..” Shane mumbled. “I didn’t mean to startle you.”

“It’s okay.. I just thought I was alone.” Cora said. She suddenly felt self conscious and remembered she had left her house in her boxer shorts and little tank top.

“I can see that.” Shane said buntly, obviously giving her a once over. “Would you like to sit again?”

“Yeah.” Cora answered lightly, trying to regain a little of her pride.
