Lulu was waiting as patiently as she could in front of the old Colonel Kullmann home. Her backpack was getting heavy and the heat was unbearable at three o’clock in the July afternoon.

She sighed when she spotted the black 1972 Chevelle at the traffic light just a block away. Wendy had a passenger, Skooter, of all people.

No wonder she’s late. Lulu grumbled.

Wendy pulled near the sidewalk as Lulu walked down to meet them, fake smile pasted on. “I wondered if you’d forgotten me,” she said as she opened the door.

Skooter turned to Lulu as she got in the backseat, “Let me enlighten you. Life as we knew it is over,” he sighed. “I can feel the reaper bearing down on me. Livin my life’s not hard enough,” he dropped his head into his hands.

Lulu raised her brow at him then narrowed her eyes at Wendy as she looked into the rearview mirror. Lulu lay her head back against the seat, “Someone needs a serious mental evaluation.”

Wendy shrugged as she pulled into the flow of traffic, “But, he’s cute.”

    Funny little moment…life with an emo boyfriend? Or I guess it’s really from the viewpoint of life with a friend with an emo boyfriend. Impressive job on hiding it all. I only have solid guesses on 6 of them, and sketchy guesses for 2 more.

    Is the favorite song “(don’t fear) the reaper?” I don’t think it can count as a sitcom, though it’s a fantastic show. And there is a Cullman, Alabama; does that count for anything?
    Cool entry. This one really stands on its own. Even knowing that there are clues in there, I could barely find them, and they don’t feel forced at all. Great job.

    Well done telling an interesting story and working all those clues into its frame so well. Hmm… I’ve read it three times and I still haven’t found the tenth one.

    Great story – I knew most of the answers but I won’t tell because I feel that would be cheating! One thing I didn’t know is that you are called “Lulu”!!! LOL And yes, you have mentioned that book on here before. In fact, I think it used to be mentioned in your profile but it isn’t there anymore. Was that on purpose? By the way, I read the story before I saw it was a challenge and I was kinda confused about the names etc. Everything seemed kinda familiar but not exactly right!!!

    I started to put a note in here that you couldn’t answer. :D As for the nickname, I started to go with Daddy’s nickname but about the time I typed it in, I heard “Hey Lulu do I have a different shirt?” :/ Of course the whole posse calls me that now; it’s surprising I get to be “admin” on their site and not “Lulu.” ;)
