Saturday night finally came and I was ready. Trey was going to meet me at the diner down the street. When I walked in, I could tell this was going to be … interesting. I found Trey at the first table and he smiled at me. “Hey.”
“Um hi.” I settled across from him and smiled back.
“What’s up?” Oh God, this is typical for a jock with no brain. I’ll make him work.
“You know, nothing much. I’ve just been working.”
“Cool, so um I have a friend I want you to meet.” Wait, what? That’s not in the script of jock conversations.
“What? But I thought…” I sighed.
“He’s coming in a couple minutes I think. It’s Jack, the football one.” Figures.
I sighed again and decided on blowing up on him.
“You ask me on a date which really is a set-up?! I swear if I had a drink right now, I’d pour it all over you.”
All he did was smile and say, “What is it with you and throwing stuff at me?” I didn’t reply and the jock named Jack strolled in.
Yeah, I had this date pegged right on. It will be extremely … interesting.
