He’d lost everything, even his own name. The others told him that it was Eric. Four months after the accident, he continued to with that name. He used it to put his new world together. With the help of a few forgotten friends from his past, he’d started a new life.

Andy and Taylor waited for him at the outdoor cafe. Eric watched them from across the street. The pair were so happy and in love. It warmed and chilled him at the same time. With a heavy sigh, he walked over to join them.

Andy shook his hand. Taylor gave him a sisterly kiss on the cheek. After a few pleasantries, Eric decided it was time to get down to business.

“There’s something I need to talk to you guys about,” he said quietly with a smile.

Taylor placed Eric’s hand in hers, “You can talk to us about anything. You know that.”

As his smile changed to an angry scowl, Eric squeezed her hand until she whimpered. He looked into her confused, watering eyes and spoke.

“When exactly were you going to tell me that you’re my wife?”

    I had a hint that something like that would happen at the end, especially with the line, “It warmed him and chilled him at the end.” But it was still a fantastic twist. Well done!

    What a beastly thing to have happen! I suppose an amnesiac isn’t the same person for a while, but to use that to get out of a relationship is just brutal!
